Semper Fortis Esports confirms talks as its linked to deals with Harry Maguire and Dominic Calvert-L
Semper Fortis Esports Plc (AQSE:SEMP) has confirmed it is pursuing relationships with ‘leading sports figures’, as it responded to a media report claiming the company is in talks with Harry Maguire and Dominic Calvert-Lewin to sign them up as brand ambassadors.
In the statement, Semper Fortis said: “The company will make appropriate and timely announcements as and when any brand ambassador contracts are entered into.”
Such ambassadorial roles are notably common in eSports, particularly with traditional sports stars.
If Maguire is signed up by Semper Fortis he would actually be the second Manchester United and England captain to team up with a UK-listed eSports company, following the £20mln float of David Beckham affiliated Guild Esports PLC in September 2020.
Semper Fortis began trading on the Access segment of the Aquis Stock Exchange last week after an oversubscribed fundraising brought in £2.5mln of investment.
At the time of the Aquis float the company said that the fundraise will enable management to begin the pursuit of its strategy in the exciting and growing market represented by esports, which is forecast to grow 12% per year globally between 2020 and 2024.
Semper Fortis Esports team competes under the name ‘Top Blokes’.
Presently, Top Blokes competes in the Rocket League Championship Series.
The company’s stated strategy includes joint venture with a high-profile talent and celebrities. It aims to generate ‘viewership power’ to attain sponsorship opportunities.
