Gfinity appointed production partner for Red Bull show covering League of Legends World Championship
Gfinity PLC (LON:GFIN) said it has been appointed by Red Bull as the production for Red Bull Worlds Simplified, a new digital show which breaks down the League of Legends World Championship Final into a format that is accessible to people around the world, including those with no prior knowledge of the game or competition.
The League of Legends World Championship is the annual professional League of Legends championship tournament, hosted by video game developer Riot Games. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Championship and is expected to be watched by tens of millions of viewers.
AIM-listed Gfinity said the show will be hosted by esports presenter Frankie Ward live from its Gfinity Arena in London on October 31, with a livestream to be broadcast across Red Bull’s main Twitch and YouTube channels from 9am GMT.
“With more attention than ever expected on the Worlds Final this year, we are excited to be working with Red Bull to open up the most watched esports event on the planet to a whole new audience, introducing the uninitiated to a fun and informal breakdown of League of Legends”, Gfinity’s global head of content Amanda Lawson said in a statement.
“Increasingly world leading brands are turning to Gfinity to make esports and competitive gaming entertainment shows that tap into a broader mainstream gaming audience. This project sits under our building communities for others strategic pillar, utilising our world class production capabilities. We are looking forward to working with Red Bull on more collaborations in the future”, she added.
Shares in Gfinity were up 3% at 4.1p in late-afternoon trading on Wednesday.
